Not at all, apart from a facelift the updates to Win7 are in Vista, Vista and 7 use the same hardware drivers for 32bit that should be an indicator to how few differences there are, read some of the stuff in the Win7 pricing thread which has links to more technically accurate stuff than my self on the differences between the software and you will understand that you've just be suckered by good PR, its a branding exercise really, Vista had bad PR when it first came out, mud sticks, give it a facelift with a few updates re-release as win 7, bad PR goes away.
mcp.php?i=main&mode=post_details&f=5&p=25565There are some differences in 7 that aren't being back ported but that is likely more to do with trying to give 7 a bit of selling point over Vista rather than any technical challenges, nothing worth paying for. I use both now, I bought 7 because it was supposed to be better on netbooks, its not, its the same as vista.
